A euphonium solo composed for Jacob Hickson from the University of Huddersfield at UniBrass in 2024, who won the solo prize playing this piece.

Based on the hymn tune Melita, the words talk of the strength of God's protection, especially at sea.

There is a percussion driven opening, although an alternative starting point is also suggested.
