Biography

A lifelong resident of Kent Wendy Nevard is a gifted amateur musician and lyricist aided in her compositions by some amazing professionals including Cy Payne and Lt Col Geoff Kingston.  Cy Payne assisted her in writing “The Colours Fly” first completed as an orchestral composition in 2011 and produced here with the unique flair of Geoff Kingston for brass band performance.

A pivotal moment for Wendy’s music writing came in 1998 in Reading when music PhD student Christina Tio from Malaysia became engrossed in listening to the singing of a song composed by Wendy and began to write it down in notated form.  This showed Wendy that music was like any other language that could be deciphered and translated and opened a whole new world of expression.

Wendy was educated at Newstead Wood School for Girls Orpington and at Alnwick Castle College of Education Northumberland in the 1970s where she studied Divinity, and later qualified as a linguist in French. She maintains and interest in language learning and with the aid of keyboard the creative work of fusing words with song.
